Every year, TAP-SF holds the Taiwanese American Cultural Festival in San Francisco’s famous Union Square. This year’s festival was extra special, as it has been 25 years since the festival started in 1992. The festival was on May 13 and the city of San Francisco proclaimed it as Taiwanese American Day! Over 10,000 people came to experience “Taiwan Soul.”
TAP-SF continues to plan the festival because it is an exciting event that roots us in TACL’s values of Leadership, Identity, Network and Community. The planning team is a group of twenty leaders who dedicate over 40+ hours to make this happen. This year, we focused on being more culturally relevant and relatable to raise awareness about Taiwanese American culture. One highlight is our new photo selfie booth that allowed visitors to experience the natural landscapes of Taiwan and wander through a virtual orchid flower market.
