Taiwanese American Citizens League annually provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors, emphasizing excellence in not only scholarship, but in community involvement. Scholarship award recipients are encouraged to participate as volunteers in community events to qualify for the award, with the goal of stimulating and promoting well-rounded individuals, interested in community involvement. The scholarship is provided to all ethnicities, and is intended to encourage the development of future leaders.
There are currently two open scholarship applications:

- 2018 TACL-OC Taiwanese American Community Scholarship

2018 TACL-LA Taiwanese American Community Scholarship
ELIGIBILITY
- Applicant is to be a college-bound high school senior and juniors living in Los Angeles County. The high school senior and juniors are eligible regardless of sex, race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, citizenship, age, disability, medical condition, or sexual orientation.
- Applicant has demonstrated leadership, student involvement, community service, and academic success by promoting understanding and respect among different cultural and ethnic groups through their thoughts and actions.
APPLICATION PROCESS
To be considered, the following items must be submitted for review:
- Complete application form (can be downloaded here)
- A one-page biography -double spaced, Times New Roman, font size 12, one inch margin on four borders
- An essay of “How I contribute to and care about my community.” (No more than 500 words, double spaced, Times New Roman, font size 12 with 1” margins on 4 borders)
- One or more letter(s) of recommendation from:
- Faculty, teacher, or counselor of the school you attend OR
- Community leader or supervisor
- A copy of the most recent official transcript. Transcripts must be sent by mail.
- Supplemental items that you would like us to consider (optional)
The completed application form, biography, and essay must be e-mailed as attachments to lynn.wen@yahoo.com. Faculty, teacher, counselor, community leader, or supervisor may scan and e-mail the letter of recommendation. However, he or she must still send the hard copy recommendation letter by mail to the address below. Transcripts must be sent by mail.

TACL-LA APPROVED CULTURAL EVENTS: To promote understanding and respect among cultural diversity, applicants will be required to participate at the Taiwanese-American Heritage Festival Week in May 2018, a workshop in June, and one other event to be announced.
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS SELECTED: Scholarship recipients will be notified of their selection for the scholarship award on June 10, 2018
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD CEREMONY: Each scholarship recipient will be awarded five hundred dollars ($500) with a Scholarship Award certificate. All recipients are required to attend the TACL-LA Scholarship Award Ceremony in order to receive the award and plaque. The place, date, and time of this event will be announced at a later date.
