There is an increasing public recognition that the month of May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, but did you know that Taiwanese American Heritage Week is also celebrated in May?

Since 1999, Congressman David Wu of Oregon and the co-chairs of the Congressional Taiwan Caucus have supported the celebration of Taiwanese American Heritage Week starting each Mother’s Day Weekend.

To celebrate Taiwanese American Heritage Week 2017 (May 15-21), TACL spearheaded a campaign to bring greater awareness about this week and the community itself. With the help of Sean Chung, Tech/Design Chair of TAP-Boston, the infographic below was created to offer a quick and simple way to learn about the Taiwanese American community.

TACL is only one of several Taiwanese/Taiwanese American nonprofits in the United States, so we decided to partner with other community organizations to unite and spread greater understanding of our collective community: Intercollegiate Taiwanese American Students Association, North American Taiwanese Medical Association, TaiwaneseAmerican.org, Taiwanese American Foundation, Taiwanese American Next Generation, and Taiwanese United Fund. With the help of these community partners, we celebrated our shared heritage, identity, and commitment to the ideals of democracy, freedom and justice.  #TAHeritageWeek
