Our client is a 100 year old, global manufacturing company with locations spread across more than 20 countries. The company is looking for a Worldwide Product Engineering Manager (WWPE Manager) for its regional office in Taipei, Taiwan. The individual should have a strong engineering background, some experience outside of Taiwan and proficiency in both Chinese and English. 
 
Key Responsibilities
§  Develops master (standard) product specifications for Application Engineers to use in specification negotiations that balance customers' needs with our client’s product strategy
§  Aligns and integrates customer product specifications with master specifications through business-wide processes and systems
§  Prioritizes customer product requirements and translates their needs internally as input to product specifications
§  Gathers and compiles technical information from customers, vendors, and Application Engineers to maintain an up-to-date database of customer needs
§  Creates process for, provides, and monitors the results of second-level technical support and service to customers to ensure effective and timely responses to client queries and issues
§  Develops tools and processes that enhance Application Engineers' ability to deliver high quality product support and resolve customer technical issues
§  Designs and delivers training to develop competencies of Application Engineers
§  Leads the product / process qualification process to anticipate the potential impact of changes in products on the customer
§  Collaborates with Engineering and Manufacturing to develop strategy for targeted quality attribute architecture improvements with corresponding cost / benefit analysis
§  Leads integrated product enhancement programs with focus on attribute improvement
§  Identifies potential risks with product / process migration to mitigate issues with the execution of the product strategy
§  Quantifies the value to the customer yielded through technical and process improvements
§  Collaborates with Product Line Management to develop new products / services
§  Works with specialists to quantify the value to the customer yielded through technical and process improvements
§  Periodically reviews the performance and capabilities of Product and Applications Engineering talent to identify and address performance and development gaps that may limit productivity
§  Executes staffing and other talent development activities that ensure that Product Engineering has the right people in the right place at the right time
 
Key Requirements
§  Bilingual in Chinese and English
§  Bachelor’s degree in a technical field required; advanced technical degree preferred.
§  7-10 years of strong experience with applications engineering or product development in the technology (electronics, semiconductors, etc.) industry.
§  Specific experience with account management, product engineering, manufacturing operations, and manufacturing engineering preferred.
§  Work experience at a global company in multiple countries; US, Japan, Taiwan or China are preferred.
§  Experience with implementation of solutions / value selling strategies
§  Strong communication and interpersonal skills – ability to interact with customers.

Job summary

THE UNITED NATIONS COMMISSION FOR SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT (UNCSD) NEWSLETTER

The Commission for Social Development (CSocD) is a functional commission of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations. It consists of 46 members elected by ECOSOC.

Since the convening of the World Summit for Social Development in Copenhagen in 1995, the Commission has been the key UN body in charge of the follow-up and implementation of the Copenhagen Declaration and Programme of Action. As a result of the Summit, the mandate of the Commission was reviewed and its membership expanded from 32 to 46 members in 1996. It meets once a year in New York, usually in February.

Each year since 1995, the Commission has taken up key social development themes as part of its follow-up to the outcome of the Copenhagen Summit. The Commission's Programme of Work contains all documentation of the Commission for each of its sessions since the Summit.

UNCSD's goal is to empower poor rural women and men in developing countries to achieve higher incomes and

improved food security.

Objectives

The Division monitors national and global socio-economic trends, identifies emerging issues, and assesses their implications for social policy at the national and international levels. To this end, the

Division:

Promotes common norms and develops policies, programmes and cooperative actions to facilitate the implementation of the Internationally Agreed Development Goals, including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Provides support and servicing to intergovernmental processes by facilitating agreement on resolutions, strategies and international standards and norms through the Commission for Social Development, the Economic and Social Council, the General Assembly and other intergovernmental forums, such as the Conference of State Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The incumbent will perform tbe following tasks:

1. Project Management and Administration: Prepare guidelines for the HCPD formulation by HPMs; conduct review of all submissions and provide immediate feedback to HPMs; provide technical and management advice on the HCPDs; ensure that extensive consultations are held with governments and other stakeholders in preparation of HCPDs, and that they are compliant with the objectives of the MTSIP;

3. Project/Programme Development and

Implementation: Participate in and contribute to the implementation of the Organization's vision, work programme and advocacy role; support UNCSD's presence in countries which have embarked on the 'Delivering as One' experience; participate in and contribute to the implementation of the Organization's vision, work programme and advocacy role, particularly in promoting sustainable urban development in all countries where UNCSD has a field presence; review suggested programmes to ensure they are of importance and have included other UN agencies, bilateral/multilateral and national partners; review identified priority interventions in the human settlements sector with the framework of UNCSD Agenda and other multi-lateral instruments; assist in negotiations with multilateral/bilateral donors for resource mobilization, promoting/coordinating joint activities.

4. Enhanced Normative Operational Framework (ENOF): Coordinate and follow up HCPD inter-division meetings; submit HCPDs to other UNCSD divisions for review and coordinaton of inter-divisional meetings for Regional Office for Arab States HCPDs; attend inter-divisional and Committe of Permanent Representatives meetings to review HCPDs; report on the implementation of country programmes.

5. Undertake other assignments within the incumbent's area of competence, as may be required.
